The Korea Trade Commission is currently composed of one chairperson and eight commissioners, including one designated as a standing commissioner. Commissioners are appointed by the President upon the recommendation of the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy. The Chairperson and Commissioners serve overlapping terms of three years each, and may be reappointed.
The Commission is supported in its administrative work by the Office of Investigation, which consists of four Divisions: the Trade Remedy PolicyDivision, the Injury Determination Division, the Dumping Investigation Division, and the Unfair Trade Investigation Division

Biographies
Hyun Jung Taik
Dr. Hyun Jung Taik, Professor of International Trade and Regional Studies at Inha University, was entrusted with the role of KTC Chairman on June 22, 2010, by President Lee Myung-bak.
Before joining the Commission, Dr. Hyun was President of the Korea Development Institute (KDI) from 2005 to 2009. He also served as Chief Economic Advisor to the President of Korea from 2002 to early 2003.
Dr. Hyun received his bachelor's degree in economics from Seoul National University in 1971. He went on to earn a doctorate in economics from George Washington University in 1993.

Jin Hong
President Lee Myung-bak appointed Mr. Jin Hong as Standing Commissioner of the Korea Trade Commission in March 2010.
Commissioner Jin passed the examination for the Higher Civil Service in 1981 and has spent most of his career with the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, most recently as Director General for Energy Policy.
Commissioner Jin received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Yonsei University in 1981. In 1990, he went on to earn a master's degree in public policy from the University of Saitama in Japan.

Wang Sanghan
President Lee Myung-bak entrusted Dr. Wang Sanghan with the three-year position of Non-Standing Commissioner in April 2010. This is Commissioner Wang's second term. He is also a Professor of Law at Sogang University and is Korea's Representative to the U.N. Commission on International Trade Law.
Commissioner Wang graduated from Seoul National University's College of Law in 1986, and went on to earn a doctorate in trade law from Columbia University in 1996.

Lee InSil
Ms. Lee InSil, a patent lawyer representing the Lee & Park Patent and Law Firm, was entrusted with the role of Non-Standing Commissioner by President Lee Myung-bak in April 2008. She is also an arbitrator on the Intellectual Property Rights Dispute Committee of the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
Commissioner Lee holds a bachelor's degree in French language and literature from Pusan National University and a Master of Laws from the University of Washington.

Choi Nakgyoon
Dr. Choi Nakgyoon was entrusted by President Lee Myung-bak with the position of Non-Standing Commissioner for three years beginning in September 2008. He is currently a Senior Research Fellow with the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy and was a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University from 2006 to 2007.
Commissioner Choi graduated from Seoul National University in 1980 with a degree in commerce and trade. In 1991, he went on to earn a doctorate in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kim Jong Soo
In January 2009, President Lee Myung-bak entrusted Mr. Kim Jong Soo with a three-year term as Non-Standing Commissioner. He is also an editorial writer with the Joongang Daily, a major Korean newspaper, and for a time he served as its correspondent in Washington, D.C. He was also a part-time researcher for the Department of Finance within the Korea Development Institute.
Commissioner Kim graduated from Seoul National University in 1985 with a degree in commerce and trade.

Lee Myung-Kyu
Mr. Lee Myung-Kyu was entrusted with a three-year term as Non-Standing Commissioner in January 2009 by President Lee Myung-bak. He is currently a lawyer with the Darae Law and Patent Firm, having previously served as a judge with Korea's Patent Court and as a research judge with its Supreme Court.
Commissioner Lee earned his bachelor's degree in law from Seoul National University in 1987, and went on to receive a master's degree from Universite Pantheon-Assas (Paris 2).

Kang Eungseon
President Lee Myung-bak entrusted Dr. Kang Eungseon, a Professor at Kyungwon University, with a three-year term as Non-Standing Commissioner beginning in April 2010.
Commissioner Kang graduated from Seoul National University in 1974 with a degree in business administration and went on to earn a doctorate in economics from the University of Hawaii. He passed the examination for the Higher Civil Service in 1975 and soon began a 20-year career with the Economic Planning Board. Upon his retirement, he joined the staff of the Maeil Business Newspaper as an editorial writer

Joo Yung Sup
Mr. Joo Yung Sup was appointed by President Lee Myung-bak as a Non-Standing Commissioner in May 2010.
Commissioner Joo passed the examination for the Higher Civil Service in 1979 and is the incumbent Deputy Minister for the Tax and Customs Office within the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. He graduated from Seoul National University in 1980 with a degree in social studies education and went on to earn a master's degree in economics in 1997 from the University of Connecticut.
